Entry 8

"Fitcher's Bird", "The Robber BrideGroom", and "BlueBeard" all three are very similar. In each fairytale, the husband/groom seems innocent at the beginning, the bride will then learn the groom is a murderer, and the bride will soon escape. In "Fitcher's Bird" and "Bluebeard", the brides are left alone while the husbands go out on a journey, and they are forbidden to go into one room, once they go into the room, the husband finds out, and demands the wives been killed. In "The Robber Bridegroom", the maiden secretly enters the grooms home, hides due to the old woman request, and witnesses the groom and his "friends" murder another maiden. After seeing the groom do this, the bride escapes, and gets the groom and his friends murdered. Although the stories have a lot in common, they are all unique in their own ways because they intrigue the readers. "Fitcher's Bird" is unique because the sister dresses up in disguise as a bird to escape. "Bluebeard" is unique because the brothers of the bride come to her rescue and kill Bluebeard. "The Robber Bridegroom is unique because when the bride witnesses the groom murder another maiden, one of the maiden's fingers were chopped off and fell into the brides lap, and the bride kept the finger. My favorite version of the fairytale is "The Robber Bridegroom" because I like how the bride escapes calmly at night, goes on with the wedding, and holds on to the other maidens finger. Then, when telling everyone at the wedding about her "dream", she pulled out the maidens finger infront of everyone. This convinced everyone the groom was a murderer and he was killed immediately.
